So several months ago, i commissioned a 3d designer to create models of the Weyland Yutani light PMC from the 2013 game "Aliens: Colonial Marines"
with limited information, i gathered as many screenshots from the game itself, cut scenes and actual game play, with concept artwork from online sources as well.
the designer came through and delivered the final models a few months back. due to my Fifo work and financial commitments, i have been slowly printing the armor. a few tweaks to scale my body size,
the printing side is done.
the plan is to fully clean and prep the prints, then attempt to make master molds out of the pieces and create resin casting for multiply copies. As a few of us are attempting to make a Fan film.
plus there is no longevity in 3d prints unless reinforced to hell.
the designer aimed for more in game content, but i prefer the concept art a bit more, the shoulders i will be re-scaling so that are a wee bit longer out the back,
This set in the photo has the main chest, back and shoulders scaled to 110%. I have another set already printed at 103% length and with, but 110% high.
All this is a work in progress. but at least for the moment, the printing is done.
the shoulder lamp and greebles for the chest plate are still required prints. but the shoulder lamp is an extra that does not really need to be part of the final costume.
in the coming months, bogging, sanding and final prep work will be done on the masters, then molding will begin.
i will probably also sharpen the edging on the chest and abs V lines, re twirk the bicep guard to be a bit sharper at the base, ( bicep and Knees will be polyurethane rubber. and each piece of the shoulder sections on the chest and back plate will be cut to wearers specs, with piano hinges attached to create the clam shell effect while keeping the joins flush.
Thats the plan so far,
with the positive money flow finally happening, i can finally, but slowly start this film project, and TBH, i genuinely love the PMC design.
PS, i have talked to the 3d designer, and he has confirmed that when im ready, he can model the Commando helmet and shoulder bells from the Concept art work as well.
PPS. i will be making a Left and right Shoulder mounted face shield, for left and right handed folk.
" I Wonder, How much money would take for you to fight to the last for Weyland Yutani ? "

Love this!
Will you be offering the 3D files for sale?
(I'd like to make my own armour set, one day).

SHIN UPDATE.
The original scale for the shin guards were rather oversized.
i kept the height the same, but scaled down the length and width.
once padding will be added, the newer scale will sit nice and snug. i have also decided to separate the rear inside plate from the whole shin and have that as a piece that will be joined via a rubber or leather strip, giving it flexibility and the ability to have a tighter clamping effect around the calf of the wearer.
PS. I AM AWARE I WORE THE GUARDS ON THE OPPOSITE LEGS, it was just a quick photo shoot for update. LOL
