Hello all so im new here to the new site as i kinda didn't know it existed till a month or so back but given my extensive research in how a MG42 goes together i thought id share a few images from my journey into making a live fire smartgun
Now as a word of caution: i live in a state in the US where owning a belt fed rifle/machine gun is legal so dont go out there thinking its ok to just do what i do you gotta know the laws and know them well....and firearms to because i am doing some pretty big modifications to my live fire MG42/59 and it could potentially end badly if im not careful
With that out of the way heres what you all came to see (hopefully)
Now then everything here has been constructed using models from James Forder and with the help of some of the others in the community i have managed to snag a pair of kawasaki AR-125 brackets (which im hoping to make a few metal castings of later)
This has been a on-going project for the past 2 years now and at the start of next year i get the prototypes in for the muzzle brakes (which can be fitted for all MG42 platforms even airsoft if anyone is interested) and i can begin running the stress tests for them with about 100-200 rounds of .308
Im hoping at the end of this to end up with a "in universe" build and not so much as a screen accurate build as that would take infinitely longer to make....plus i like having my own touch on my personal peices
That being said anything i make here can be remade for anyone looking for a addition to their colonial marine build as these parts i make are also in the works of being reproduced for those looking to make their airsoft and deac builds a little more robust (they are rated for live fire but since UK is the UK i assume mainly airsoft with limited deac builds these days)
I am also in the works of getting a few custom grenade props made so once those get produced ill have a few reference photos up for anyone interested in those as well
Now as for what you're probably going to ask....whats the price? That has yet to be determined as were still collating on how many orders would be needed to make it feasible to everyone. Not saying itll cost a arm or a leg but it is looking to be in the 3-400$ range for one of the muzzle brakes right now. Were working on getting that number down with larger orders of the same type, as the more that are ordered the less itll cost for each one as itll limit resetting and recalibrating the CNC/Lathe to make them
Further note: i am not selling a live firearm nor do i ever want to sell a live firearm here as it is against the rules. I have read thoroughly over the rules and havent found a rule stating that live fire weapons are a taboo topic for prop making, if i have glanced over this then i apologize and i will remove the topic immediately. This post was purely for a small peak at something ive been working on for the past 2 years in contractual agreement with G28 Machining LLC as it is intended to fit only as cosmetic attachments and in no way shape or form alters the functionality of the intended firearm to convert it into a illegal machine gun. All parts and props that will be attached later in this topic will be listed to the PX sales topic and will be reviewed thoroughly to stay in accordance with both the rules and law. Any and all models that were used in the production of this topic purchased from other members were merely used as prototyping display models for making scratch made models in Fusion 360 i am in no way trying to "recast" or reproduce what others have been making for years now and have no intentions of infringing on copyrighted materials.
Well that was a mouthful....Hope all of this was a bit exciting as it has put a large dent in my bank account so far (i dare not to even put a exact value to how much it has cost so far as i will weep)
